Corticosteroids in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy
Journal of Neurology Jul 05, 2018
van Lieverloo GGA, et al. - The efficacy and safety of three corticosteroid regimens in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) subjects were compared in this retrospective study. Treatment naïve patients that fulfilled the European Federation of Neurological Societies/Peripheral Nerve Society criteria for CIDP were included. In line with the local protocol of three CIDP expertise centers, patients were treated with corticosteroids. Participants in the study were 125 patients. Researchers reported 60% of those treated with corticosteroids for CIDP saw an improvement. They found a remission rate of 61% in the treatment responders, with a median follow-up of 55 months. No differences were found between treatment modalities in terms of efficacy and safety.
