Allergy Feb 04, 2020
Bédard A, Antó JM, Fonseca JA, et al. - Given that a relevant outcome affording knowledge on the effectiveness of interventions is required in allergic rhinitis, and in MASK-air (Mobile Airways Sentinel Network), a visual analogue scale (VAS) for work is utilized as a relevant outcome, so, researchers compared VAS work with other VAS measurements and symptom-medication scores obtained concurrently, to ultimately evaluate the performance of the work VAS work. An analysis was performed on all consecutive MASK-air users in 23 countries from June 1, 2016, to October 31, 2018 (14,189 users; 205,904 days). Self-evaluation of daily symptom control was done by geolocalized users, utilizing the touchscreen functionality on their smart phone to click on VAS scores (ranging from 0 to 100) for overall symptoms (global), nose, eyes, asthma and work. Findings revealed the correlation of VAS work with other outcomes (VAS global, nose, eye and asthma), but it correlated less well with a symptom-medication score. Considering VAS work as a likely useful AR outcome in intervention studies was recommended.
