Correlation between systemic inflammatory response and quality of life in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis
International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology Jan 25, 2019
Orb Q, et al. - Authors estimated 16 subjects with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and compared their local and systemic inflammatory gene expression to determine the association of systemic markers of inflammation with disease severity and disease-specific quality of life (QOL). They observed a significant increment in the expression of ctla4 and jak1 in sinonasal tissue and blood. They also found a decrease in the gene expression of hla-dqa1, hla-dqb1, and dusp4 in subjects with CRS as compared to controls. A significant positive correlation was noted between soluble and local ctla4 and jak1 and clinical markers of disease severity as well as disease-specific QOL.
