Correlation between serum IL-17A level and SALT score in patients with alopecia areata before and after NB-UVB therapy
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology May 03, 2018
Morsy H, et al. - Researchers measured serum IL-17A in patients with alopecia areata, and studied relationships between IL-17A levels and disease severity before and after Narrowband-Ultraviolet B (NB-UVB), patient gender and age. Nonetheless, for alopecia areata of mild efficacy, (NB-UVB) was an immune-modulatory type of treatment especially if used alone, it demonstrated a significant decrease in serum IL-17A level among patients and correlation to disease severity. Experts noted the mean SALT score to be (14.03 Â ± 13.48) and a positive correlation if this score with age was seen.
