Burns Aug 30, 2018
Cambiaso-Daniel J, et al. - Considering the essentiality of accurate blood pressure monitoring for burn management, with the intra-arterial line method being the gold standard, researchers retrospectively reviewed data from burned children admitted from 1997 to 2016 to evaluate agreement between cuff and intra-arterial line methods for systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and mean arterial pressure (MAP). Findings indicated a wide variation of cuff measurements from those of intra-arterial lines, which have a low complication rate. When tight control of the hemodynamic response is essential, intra-arterial lines are advisable.
