Correlation between dual-energy computed tomography single scan and computed tomography perfusion for pancreatic cancer patients: Initial experience
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography Jul 24, 2019
Bao J, et al. - Thirty subjects with suspected solitary pancreatic cancer were recruited in a study by the researchers and underwent computed tomography (CT) perfusion and iodine maps in order to assess the role and limit of iodine maps by dual-energy CT single scan for pancreatic cancer. The parameters of pancreatic cancer and normal pancreatic tissue were estimated. For assessing 2 techniques, the Pearson correlation and paired t test were practiced. A moderate positive association of iodine concentration with blood flow or blood volume was noted. Significant positive relationships of all values of iodine concentration and blood flow, iodine concentration, and blood volume were discovered. For CT perfusion and iodine maps, the mean active dose had a notable variation. Hence, for pancreatic cancer, iodine maps had the potential to substitute routine CT perfusion with low radiation dose.
