Correlation between cone-beam computed tomography and high-resolution peripheral computed tomography for assessment of wrist bone microstructure
Journal of Bone and Mineral Research Jun 20, 2019
Mys K, et al. - In this investigation, researchers compared the precision of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) and determined the agreement between CBCT and HR-pQCT in quantifying bone structural parameters. For this analysis, 19 trapezia of arthritic patients were scanned. In bone-morphometric analyses of trapezia, CBCT produced comparable accuracy as HR-pQCT. Findings suggested that the broader range of application, larger field of view, and shorter acquisition time make CBCT a useful alternative to HR-pQCT.
