Correlation between bone quality and microvascular damage in systemic sclerosis patients
Rheumatology Jun 01, 2018
Ruaro B, et al. - Authors evaluated the bone quality, by trabecular bone score (TBS), in systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients in correlation with different levels of microvascular damage, as evaluated by nailfold videocapillaroscopy (NVC). They also compared the results regarding bone quality with RA patients and healthy subjects (CNT). Compared to CNT, experts noted significantly lower bone quality (lower TBS and BMD) in SSc and RA patients. Lower bone quality was seen in SSc patients with more altered microvasculature (late NVC pattern). Between SSc and RA patients, no statistically significant difference in the mean lumbar spine TBS was found.
