Correlation between 24-h continuous intraocular pressure measurement with a contact lens sensor and visual field progression
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Nov 08, 2019
Tojo N, et al. - Researchers examined how 24-h continuous intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement is correlated with a contact lens sensor (CLS) and visual field (VF) progression. Sixty-nine eyes of glaucoma patients who were followed > 2 years after the measurement of IOP fluctuation were examined with a CLS. Examinations > 4 times was reported in all patients. During a mean follow-up period of 4.0 ± 1.6 years, they identified the mean VF progression rate of − 0.37 ± 0.53 dB/year. As per the multivariate analysis, risk factors for VF progression are: more advanced baseline MD value; high maximum values during the 24-h and nocturnal periods; large standard deviation of IOP fluctuation during the 24-h, diurnal, and nocturnal periods; and a large range of IOP fluctuation during the nocturnal period.
