Coronary computed tomography angiography vs myocardial single photon emission computed tomography in patients with intermediate risk chest pain: A randomized clinical trial for cost-effectiveness comparison based on real-world cost
European Heart Journal – Cardiovascular Imaging Jul 29, 2018
Lee SP, et al. - In this study, coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) and myocardial single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) were compared in terms of cost-effectiveness in patients with stable intermediate risk chest pain. The study included non-acute patients with 10–90% pre-test probability of coronary artery disease from three high-volume centers in Korea (n=965). Findings demonstrated an association of CCTA with fewer subsequent invasive coronary angiography (ICA) with no difference in downstream outcome. They observed that in Korean patients with stable, intermediate risk chest pain, CCTA may be more cost-effective than SPECT.
