Coronary artery calcium score in female rheumatoid arthritis patients: Associations with apolipoproteins and disease biomarkers
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Sep 05, 2019
Bernardes M, Madureira A, Oliveira A, et al. - Researchers conducted this investigation to evaluate Coronary Calcium Score (CCS) in female rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients and determine CCS connection with different clinical, laboratory and imaging disease parameters. The study sample consisted of 60 female patients (mean age was 53.6 ± 10.4 years). According to findings, CCS > 10 was significantly linked to cardiovascular (CV) risk factors, disease parameters, biomarkers, and bone mineral density. The research strengthens the hypothesis that CCS may be a helpful tool in CV risk assessment in RA, especially valuable in patients with certain lipoprotein profiles who are less controlled.
