Coronary artery calcium score and the long-term risk of atrial fibrillation in patients undergoing non-contrast cardiac computed tomography for suspected coronary artery disease: A Danish registry-based cohort study

European Heart Journal – Cardiovascular Imaging Aug 14, 2017

Vinter N, et al. – Coronary artery calcium score (CACS) was assessed for association with risk of future atrial fibrillation (AF) and for predictive accuracy for AF development in patients undergoing non–contrast cardiac computed tomography (nCCT). Findings demonstrated an association between a high CACS and high risk of subsequent AF development. In addition, data indicated that a high CACS possibly hold potential to guide future follow–ups for AF detection after CACS measurement in order to identify AF patients earlier.
