Corneal epithelial thickness mapping after photorefractive keratectomy for myopia
Journal of Refractive Surgery Oct 18, 2019
Sedaghat MR, Momeni-Moghaddam H, Gazanchian M, et al. - In this prospective study involving 52 participants (52 eyes) for myopic photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), researchers assessed the longitudinal changes in epithelial thickness after PRK and correlate these with refractive changes. Investigators found that the epithelial thickening pattern was markedly reduced at 1 month after PRK, with a gradual thickening at 3 and 6 months. The epithelial thickness and spherical equivalent changes were only important for the para-central peripheral zone.
