Corneal asphericity and related factors in the geriatric population: A population-based study
Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics May 23, 2021
Hashemi H, Nabovati P, Aghamirsalim M, et al. - In this population-based study, researchers sought to determine the distribution of the corneal asphericity coefficient (Q value) and related factors in an Iranian geriatric population. Using a Pentacam HR, participants ≥ 60 years of age underwent corneal imaging. Participants in the study were 2,457 people (2,457 eyes), mean age 67.3 ± 5.82 years. In this geriatric Iranian population, the corneal Q values were lower than those recorded in most previous studies. Ocular biometry and corneal curvature had a greater impact on corneal asphericity than demographic factors and refractive status.
