Core needle biopsy vs incisional biopsy for differentiation of soft-tissue sarcomas: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Cancer Feb 12, 2020
Birgin E, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis involving 2,680 individuals, researchers contrasted the diagnostic accuracy of core needle biopsy (CNB) vs incisional biopsy (IB) in soft-tissue sarcoma (STS) with reference to the final histopathological outcome. Data reported that the sensitivity and specificity of CNB and IB to detect the dignity of lesions were 97% and 99%, respectively, and 96% and 100%, respectively. For patients with suspected STS with fewer complications vs IB, CNB has high accuracy for diagnosing the dignity of lesions and STS histotype. CNB should, therefore, be seen as the primary technique for biopsy.
