Rivinius R, et al. - In patients following heart transplantation (HTX), researchers examined the influence of COPD via an observational retrospective single-center study of 259 subjects receiving HTX at Heidelberg University Hospital between 2003 and 2012. Findings suggested an association of COPD in patients after HTX with a prolonged hospital stay, early posttransplant atrial fibrillation (AF), and impaired posttransplant survival, including an increased 30-day mortality.
