Contribution of otoacoustic emissions for diagnosis of atypical or recurrent intracranial hypotension. A cases series
Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain Sep 01, 2019
Redon S, et al. - Given that there are only a few reports on cases of spontaneous or posttraumatic intracranial hypotension indicating abnormal results of distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE), researchers sought to describe additional results in a series of intracranial hypotension cases. Further, DPOAE assessment in atypical presentations of intracranial hypotension has been discussed and other non-invasive tests reported in the literature were reviewed in this work. In four atypical or recurrent cases of spontaneous or posttraumatic intracranial hypotension, they identified unilateral or bilateral abnormal changes of DPOAE, in response to the postural test. Findings support that for the diagnosis of spontaneous intracranial hypotension, the study of otoacoustic emissions may be a non-invasive tool.
