Contribution of otoacoustic emissions for diagnosis of atypical or recurrent intracranial hypotension. A cases series
Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain Sep 05, 2019
Redon S, et al. - Given that there are only a few reports on cases of spontaneous or posttraumatic intracranial hypotension indicating abnormal results of distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE), researchers sought to report additional results in a series of intracranial hypotension cases. In addition, they sought to address DPOAE assessment in atypical presentations of intracranial hypotension and reviewed other non-invasive tests reported in the literature. In response to the postural test, unilateral or bilateral abnormal changes of DPOAE were reported in four atypical or recurrent cases of spontaneous or posttraumatic intracranial hypotension. Findings support the utility of the study of otoacoustic emissions as a non-invasive tool for the diagnosis of spontaneous intracranial hypotension.
