Contribution of magnetic resonance imaging to the management of esophageal diseases: A systematic review
European Journal of Radiology Nov 11, 2019
Leandri C, Soyer P, Oudjit A, et al. - A systematic review was conducted in order to recognize the contribution of MRI to the diagnosis and management of esophageal diseases, like gastroesophageal reflux, esophageal motility disorders, esophageal neoplasms, and portal hypertension. The primary search reclaimed 310 references, of which 56 were determined to be appropriate for the study. References were investigated and categorized in various subheadings, ie, MRI protocols for the esophagus, gastroesophageal reflux disease, achalasia, and other esophageal motility disorders, esophageal cancer, portal hypertension, and other esophageal conditions. Thus, for the evaluation of esophageal diseases, MR esophagography could become a non-invasive, non-irradiating procedure of choice after diagnostic esophagogastroduodenoscopy.
