Contrast-enhanced ultrasonography in sclerotherapy for ovarian endometrial cyst
Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology May 08, 2018
Shao XH, et al. - Experts scrutinized the contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) characteristics associated with the perfusion pattern and parameters of the time-intensity curve of ovarian endometrial cysts (OECs) pre- and post-sclerotherapy. During this study, patients with one-sided, single, untreated OECs underwent CEUS pre- and post-sclerotherapy. Data disclosed that the post-treatment, time to peak was delayed, peak intensity was reduced and perfusion slope was decreased. Similar contrast agent arrival time and area under the curve was brought to light. Results depicted that CEUS enhancement patterns and quantitative parameters were altered post-sclerotherapy. Hence, treatments involving sclerosing agent retention possibly assisted in improving the efficacy of sclerotherapy for OEC.
