Contraceptive use effectiveness and pregnancy prevention information preferences among heterosexual and sexual minority college women

Blunt-Vinti HD, et al. - Researchers ascertained the contraceptive use efficacy and desire for pregnancy prevention information in college women across sexual orientation identity as a risk factor for unintended pregnancy. Findings suggested less likeliness of several groups of sexual minority women to use highly or moderately effective contraceptive methods than heterosexual women, putting them at increased risk for unintended pregnancy, but desired pregnancy prevention information. In order to reduce unintended pregnancy, the importance of patient-centered sexual and reproductive care was highlighted in the findings.
