Continuous tension reduction technique in facial scar management: A comparison of W-plasty and straight-line closure on aesthetic effects in Asian patients
International Wound Journal Oct 23, 2021
Wang D, Ding J, Jiang Y, et al. - A significant improvement in the aesthetic appearance of facial scars could be achieved with a scar revision technique combined with W-plasty and continuous tension-reduction (CTR) technique.
A retrospective study of 60 patients with facial scar.
In W-plasty and CTR, significantly better were Vancouver scar scale, visual analogue scale scores, and patient satisfaction, than other groups at 12-month follow-up.
Severe complications did not occur.
An environment where the tension is continuously reduced can be achieved with the use of tension offloading device, thus, tension on the surgical incision could be greatly reduced.
