Continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion vs multiple daily injections in pregnant women with type 1 diabetes mellitus - A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials and observational studies
European Journal of Endocrinology | Mar 21, 2018
Rys P, et al. - Experts attempted to comparatively examine continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) with multiple daily injections (MDI) in the case of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM)-complicated pregnancy. When compared to MDI therapy, CSII led to better first-trimester glycaemic control in T1DM-complicated pregnancy. Such a variation caused a decrease in subsequent trimesters. It was deduced that the CSII therapy correlated with lower insulin requirements, higher gestational weight gain (GWG) and altered risk for infants being large-for-gestational-age (LGA) and small-for-gestational-age (SGA).
