Continuous glucose monitoring predicts progression to diabetes in autoantibody positive children
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism Mar 15, 2019
Steck AK, et al. - In The Diabetes Autoimmunity Study in the Young (DAISY) analysis involving 23 autoantibodies positive (Ab+) subjects with available longitudinal continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data, researchers explored the ability of CGM to predict type 1 diabetes (T1D) onset. Of 23 Ab+ subjects with a baseline CGM, eight progressed to diabetes over a median follow-up of 17.7 years at the age of 13.8 years. According to findings, diabetes progression in islet Ab+ children can be predicted by >18% CGM time spent over 140 mg/dl.
