Construction and comprehensive analysis of a ceRNA network to reveal potential prognostic biomarkers for lung adenocarcinoma
BMC Cancer Jul 28, 2021
Gao L, et al. - Researchers investigated not only functional roles as well as the regulatory mechanisms of circular RNA (circRNA) as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) but also their potential influence on LUAD patient prognosis. They systematically screened differential expression circRNAs, miRNAs and mRNAs related to LUAD. They found aberrant expression of 10 circRNAs in LUAD tissues. They successfully built a ceRNA network of hsa_circ_0049271 which included one circRNA, two miRNAs, and seven mRNAs. PDGFB, TNFRSF19, CCND2, CTF1, IL11RA, IL7R and MAOA were the seven mRNAs that showed remarkable links with the prognosis of LUAD patients. PDGFB, CCND2, CTF1, and IL7R were the four genes, of seven mRNA species, that could be considered as drug targets in LUAD. This study will offer new understanding of the prognosis-related ceRNA network in LUAD.
