Constitutional abnormality of nuclear membrane proteins in small cell lung carcinoma
Virchows Archiv Nov 14, 2019
Wang J, et al. - A total of 105 lung cancer tissues from 33 small cell lung carcinomas (SCLCs) and 72 non-SCLCs (34 adenocarcinomas, 30 squamous cell carcinomas, and 8 large cell carcinomas) were investigated using immunohistochemistry with antibodies for emerin, lamin A/C, lamin B, and LAP2. It was implied that downregulation of the nuclear membrane proteins emerin and lamin A/C is the identity of SCLC cells, and this constitutional anomaly of the nuclear membrane could be associated with the biological and/or clinical nature of SCLC. Moreover, in SCLC cells, knowing the nuclear protein profile could add to the understanding of nuclear fragility which is called the crush artifact in pulmonary biopsy specimens.
