Hatti M, et al. - In older adults hospitalized with an infection, researchers investigated trough concentrations of cefotaxime, meropenem, and piperacillin. Findings revealed a considerable variation in trough antibiotic concentrations among older adults treated with cefotaxime, meropenem, or piperacillin-tazobactam. To address such variations, the potential ways included better predictors to guide dosing regimens of β-lactam antibiotics or increased use of therapeutic drug monitoring.
