Conservative management following clinical complete response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy for muscle-invasive bladder cancer: Contemporary outcomes of a multi-institutional cohort study
The Journal of Urology May 31, 2018
Mazza P, et al. - Experts reported the outcomes of patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer from 2 institutions who experienced a clinical complete response to neoadjuvant platinum-based chemotherapy and opted for active surveillance to evaluate whether conservative management could be safely implemented in these patients. In patients achieving a clinical complete response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy, high rates of overall and disease-specific survival with bladder preservation were seen. For carefully selected and closely monitored muscle-invasive bladder cancer patients, the safety of active surveillance was supported by these outcomes.
