Congenital Zika syndrome: Prevalence of low birth weight and associated factors. Bahia, 2015–2017

Carvalho-Sauer R, et al. - Researchers conducted a cross-sectional study involving 393 children with congenital Zika Syndrome (CZS) living in Bahia, Brazil to assess the prevalence of low birth weight (LBW) and to identify related factors. Regardless of the duration of gestation, children with CZS showed a very high prevalence of LBW (37.2%). LBW in CSZ children was noted in correlation to prematurity and caesarean birth. The children with CZS mostly have mother of brown color, single and of low schooling.
