Congenital and iatrogenic laryngeal and vocal abnormalities in patients with 22q11.2 deletion
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Mar 29, 2018
Ebert B, et al. - Among 109 patients with 22q11.2 deletion, researchers analyzed voice and vocal fold abnormalities by examining voice, not speech. In this work, 18% displayed a laryngeal abnormality and 17% showed abnormal vocal quality. Findings thereby emphasize on considering voice and vocal fold abnormalities in this population. Distinguishing between speech and voice abnormalities in these patients might assist ensuring appropriate intervention.
