Concomitant fibromyalgia complicating chronic inflammatory arthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Rheumatology May 19, 2018
Duffield SJ, et al. - Experts ascertained the prevalence of concomitant fibromyalgia (FM) in adults with inflammatory arthritis and quantified the effect of FM on DAS. In rheumatoid arthritis (RA), ankylosing spondylitis (AxSpA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA), FM was seen to be common. Findings suggested comorbid FM to increase DAS and therefore the management of these rheumatic conditions could be influenced by it. In the presence of FM, self-reported, rather than objective, components of DAS appeared to be raised (e.g. tender joint count and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) pain scores).
