Tonelli M, et al. – This prospective cohort study was set up to probe concentrations of trace elements in hemodialysis patients. This study did not find any evidence that low zinc, selenium, or manganese concentrations exist in most contemporary Canadian hemodialysis patients. Results found excessive plasma arsenic and mercury concentrations in some subjects. In addition, excessive lead concentrations were common.
