Computer-assisted cystoscopy diagnosis of bladder cancer
Urologic Oncology: Seminars and Original Investigations Sep 29, 2017
Gosnell ME, et al. - This study ascertained if computer-assisted triage of cystoscopy findings could detect the low-risk lesions and reduce the number of referrals or biopsies, related complications, and costs, although reducing the subjectivity of the procedure and indicating when the risk of a lesion being malignant was minimal. A computer program was designed to conduct an automated analysis of cystoscopy images, on the basis of the criteria used for assessment of cystoscopy images by medical specialists and features less sensitive to the human visual system. This program could be used as a triage to detect patients not requiring a referral or additional testing.
