Computer-aided detection of lung nodules on CT with a computerized pulmonary vessel suppressed function
American Journal of Roentgenology Jan 25, 2018
Lo SCB, et al. - Physicians designed this study to assess radiologists' performance in detecting actionable nodules on chest CT when aided by a pulmonary vessel image–suppressed function and a computer-aided detection (CADe) system. With somewhat lower specificity, the novel computerized pulmonary vessel image–suppressed function with a built-in CADe (VIS/CADe) system significantly increased radiologists' detection of cancers and actionable nodules. Radiologists increased their interpretation speed by a factor of approximately one-fourth with the use of the VIS/CADe system. Findings suggested that the technique had the potential to assist radiologists in the detection of additional actionable nodules on thoracic CT.
