Computed tomography aortic valve calcium scoring for the assessment of aortic stenosis progression

Heart Oct 08, 2020

Katrina M, Jenkins M, Robson P, et al. - The present study was conducted to evaluate its ability to track aortic stenosis progression compared with echocardiography. Individuals were included in two cohorts: a reproducibility cohort where patients underwent repeat CT quantification of aortic valve calcification (CT-AVC) or echocardiography within 4 weeks and a disease progression cohort where patients underwent annual CT-AVC and/or echocardiography. Researchers recruited a sum of 33 (age 71±8) and 81 participants (age 72±8) to the reproducibility and progression cohorts, respectively. In comparison with echocardiographic measures, CT-AVC is reproducible and demonstrates larger increases over time normalized to measurement repeatability.
