Composite cardiovascular risk factor target achievement and its predictors in US adults with diabetes: The Diabetes Collaborative Registry
Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Mar 20, 2019
Fan W, et al. - In this investigation, researchers examined multiple risk factor target attainment in adults with diabetes mellitus (DM) for the prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and the predictors of such attainment in a contemporary diabetes mellitus registry. Patients who were at target for glycated hemoglobin, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and blood pressure, and who had non-smoking status, by sex, race, and history of ASCVD were identified via the US Diabetes Collaborative Registry. There was an association between age, male sex, white race, and middle or high income with meeting all four goals. Depression, on the other hand, was inversely associated with meeting all four targets. According to findings, only one in five patients attained comprehensive control of the risk factor in the US registry of patients with DM. To optimize ASCVD risk factor control, multifactorial interventions may be necessary.
