Complications of recognized and unrecognized iatrogenic ureteral injury at time of hysterectomy: A population-based analysis
The Journal of Urology Feb 16, 2018
Blackwell RH, et al. - The aim of this trial was to characterize the complications of iatrogenic ureteral injury. Authors also evaluated the impact of recognized vs delayed recognition of these injuries on patient outcomes. The risk of readmission and significant, potentially life-threatening complications was increased by the iatrogenic ureteral injury. Findings revealed that these risks were markedly increased due to the unrecognized ureteral injuries, hence, requiring a high level of suspicion for ureteral injury and a low threshold for diagnostic investigation.
