Complications of clavicle fracture surgery in patients with concomitant chest wall injury: A retrospective study
BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders Mar 27, 2021
Yang TH, Ko HJ, Wang AD, et al. - Given the uncertainty concerning the impact of associated chest wall injuries (CWI) on the complications of clavicle fracture repair, researchers examined the complications after surgical clavicle fracture fixation in patients with and without different degrees of associated CWI. They studied a total of 314 patients who underwent 316 clavicle fracture operations. Of these, 28.7% (90/314) occurred with associated CWI. Outcomes revealed no effect of CWI on surgery-related complications after clavicle fracture repair. However, increased 30-day unplanned hospital readmission rates may be observed with complex-CWI.
