Complete renal response at 12 months after induction therapy is associated with renal relapse-free rate in lupus nephritis: A single-center, retrospective cohort study
Lupus Apr 03, 2019
Ichinose K, et al. - Given a high risk for overall morbidity and mortality in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in correlation with Lupus nephritis (LN), researchers analyzed 95 cases of proliferative and membranous LN patients who underwent a renal biopsy at their hospital to determine the association between complete renal response (CR) rates at 12 months after induction therapy and predictive factors for CR and their association with renal flares. Observations revealed CR attainment at 12 months after induction therapy among LN patients who remain free from renal flares. For CR at 12 months, positive predictive factor included anti-La/SSB antibodies, and negative predictive factors included blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum β2MG levels.
