Uno S, et al. - The intent of the authors was to clarify the course of endogenous insulin secretion during long-term follow-up and factors related to residual insulin secretion, in patients with acute-onset type 1 diabetes (autoimmune). A complete loss of the endogenous insulin secretion capacity was reported in maximum patients with acute-onset type 1 diabetes (autoimmune), during the disease duration in Japan. Age of onset could exert an impact on the course of insulin secretion.
