Comparison of visual acuity outcomes between nanothin Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty and Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty
Cornea Sep 15, 2018
Kurji KH, et al. - In this prospective case series of 28 consecutive cases, researchers compared nanothin Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (NT-DSAEK) to Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) in terms of visual outcomes and complications. Cases with a diagnosis of Fuchs dystrophy, presence of pseudophakia, or planned combined cataract surgery/endothelial keratoplasty, with a minimum 6-month follow-up, were included; those with any concurrent ocular comorbidities were excluded. The main outcomes of interest were best spectacle-corrected visual acuity and complications. According to findings, NT-DSAEK offered comparable visual outcomes and complications rates when compared with DMEK.
