Comparison of urine and blood NGAL for early prediction of delayed graft function in adult kidney transplant recipients: A meta-analysis of observational studies
BMC Nephrology Aug 08, 2019
Li YM, Li Y, Yan L, et al. - By analyzing 14 eligible studies with 1,036 adult kidney transplant recipients, researchers compared the prognostic performance of urine neutrophil gelatinase-assoicated lipocalin (NGAL) [uNGAL] and blood NGAL (bNGAL) for the identification of delayed graft function (DGF) in these individuals. The included studies were identified from Medline, Cochrane library and Embase from inception to May 2018. As per the evidence gained in this study, urine and serum/plasma NGAL were identified as valuable biomarkers for early detection of DGF in kidney transplantation. With regard to early prediction of DGF, the superiority of the bNGAL over uNGAL was reported.
