Comparison of three different fixation constructs for radial neck fractures: A biomechanical study
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Nov 18, 2017
Chen H, et al. - Three different methods for fixation of radial neck fractures [instrumentation with a plate and screw construct or two different orientations (crossed and parallel) of screw fixation] were assessed for their biomechanical properties. Findings demonstrated that in clinical practice, simple radial neck fractures were commonly treated using crossed screws and plate fixation. Despite resulting in similar biomechanical strength as the two other techniques, the parallel-screw method had the advantages of reaching limited wound exposure and having the implant buried, and hence, it may be widely used in clinical practice.
