Comparison of the tolerability of posaconazole vs voriconazole in children with cystic fibrosis
Archives of Diseases in Childhood Jan 25, 2018
Bentley S, et al. - Researchers aimed to assess the indication and tolerability of posaconazole in children with cystic fibrosis (CF). In addition, they reviewed posaconazole blood levels since reaching therapeutic drug levels of triazoles was difficult in children with CF. Compared to voriconazole, posaconazole was better tolerated for the treatment of Aspergillus or Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis (ABPA) in children with CF, due mainly to the lack of photosensitivity associated with its use. Posaconazole levels attained from these patients showed that therapeutic levels could be readily obtained in this patient population.
