Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Apr 15, 2021
Kurt BÖ., et al. - The researcher conducted the study for comparing body satisfaction, self‐esteem, and quality of life (QoL) in adolescents and adults with acne. In total, 192 acne patients (132 female, 60 male; aged 19.42 ± 3.50 years) were involved in the study. The Global Acne Grading System, Rosenberg Self‐Esteem Scale (RSES), Turkish Acne Quality of Life Index (TAQoLI), and Body Cathexis Scale (BCS) were all employed. No difference was found between adolescents and adults in terms of the mean value of the RSES score, TAQoLI score, and BCS score. According to this study, acne vulgaris has a negative impact on an individual's body satisfaction, self‐esteem, and QoL. Acne has a significant psychosocial impact on adults as well as adolescents. Body satisfaction, self‐esteem, and QoL are all interconnected.
