Comparison of the loop technique with incision and drainage for skin and soft tissue abscesses: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

Academic Emergency Medicine Oct 14, 2020

Gottlieb M, et al. - Researchers aimed at comparing loop drainage technique (LDT) with conventional incision and drainage (CID) for skin and soft tissue abscesses. Searching PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, LILACS, Google Scholar, the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and bibliographies of selected articles, they identified 1,374 relevant studies; eight of these studies (n = 910 patients) were selected for inclusion. Findings suggest correlation of the LDT with decreased treatment failures when compared with CID.
