Comparison of the long-term follow-up and perioperative outcomes of partial nephrectomy and radical nephrectomy for 4 cm to 7 cm renal cell carcinoma: A systematic review and meta-analysis
BMC Urology Jun 13, 2019
Jiang YL, et al. - In patients with 4 to 7 cm renal cell carcinoma (RCC) treated with partial nephrectomy (PN) and radical nephrectomy (RN), researchers compared long-term oncological outcomes. The meta-analysis included a total of 16 research involving 33,117 patients. In the 5-year overall survival (OS), 10-year OS, 5-year recurrence-free survival (RFS) and 10-year RFS, no significant difference was found. According to this systematic review and meta-analysis, PN can deliver similar RFS & OS results and better preservation of kidney function, even though cancer-special survival has been worse.
