Chen F, et al. - A comparative appraisal was conducted of the neuroprotective effects of inhalation anaesthesia and total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA). It was illustrated that anaesthesia with volatile agents yielded better cerebral protection than TIVA for patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). This data indicated that inhalation anaesthesia could be more appropriate in the case of patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
