Comparison of the association between high-sensitivity troponin I and adverse cardiovascular outcomes in patients with vs without chronic kidney disease
The American Journal of Cardiology Mar 21, 2018
Sandesara PB, et al. - Researchers sought to assess the association of high-sensitivity troponin I (hs-TnI) with adverse cardiovascular outcomes in those with and without chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients from the Emory Cardiovascular Biobank who underwent coronary angiography. They found that even in the absence of obstructive coronary artery disease, hs-TnI more strongly predicted adverse cardiovascular events in those with CKD vs those without. Therefore, hs-TnI may serve as a tool to detect high adverse cardiovascular outcome risk in CKD.
