Comparison of single-incision and conventional laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy for morbid obesity: A meta-analysis
Obesity Surgery Feb 22, 2020
Sun SD, Wu PP, Zhou JF, et al. - Researchers compared the surgical outcomes of single-incision laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (SILSG) vs conventional laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (CLSG) in obese patients. Performing a systematic literature search in the PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library CENTRAL databases from 2009 to 2019, they identified 11 articles including 1,168 patients for this analysis. Compared with CLSG, SILSG led to attaining improved cosmetic satisfaction with no disadvantages regarding surgical outcomes. Hence, for obese patients, SILSG is proposed to have the possible value of serving as an alternative to CLSG.
